Bethlehem, in the southern West Bank, is well-known as the birthplace of Jesus. The city is now encircled by the separation wall. The wall has suffocated the city’s economy, which relies heavily on tourism. Still, the Church of the Nativity remains a Christian pilgrimage site that continues to draw tourists from around the world each year.
